BROBOT

My indie web series BROBOT follows a pot-smoking robot failing his way through high school and friendships in the fictional suburb of Hillsdale. The project showcases my experience taking a series from concept to animatic, including writing, voiceovers, storyboarding, and more.

Currently I'm revising the series into longer, half-hour episodes with updated pacing, gags and storytelling -- the first of those is below. All shows were made in Harmony/Storyboard Pro.

S01E05 • "The Miracle of Milo" (2026)

In this episode, Milo chooses between friends and eternity when his faith is questioned; meanwhile, a worship band’s harmony goes off-key when they start to suspect their shared bond might be more than just spiritual.

A completed, fully realized animatic, The Miracle of Milo is my favorite BROBOT show to date, and was partially inspired by my upbringing. It hits all the marks: it says something, it's funny and sweet, subversive but family-oriented, has all types of comedy (dumb, satirical, weird, clever) and perfect story structure, showcases cinematic storyboards, it utilizes a secondary character and the whole ensemble cast, and more! It's a perfect distillation of everything I'm going for.

S01E04 • "Midway Madness" (2026, Unfinished)

It's not all fun and games at the county fair when Brobot and Celia switch places... and get chased by some creepy carnies.

This was an episode I wrestled with while expanding BROBOT into a full 22-minute format. While I still love the carnival setting and gags, the story never quite came together — the body-swap premise had potential, but the larger story surrounding it needed a stronger foundation.

I ultimately left the episode unfinished rather than force a version that wasn't working. I may revisit the concept someday, but it would require a substantial retool. Even unfinished, it represents a good learning experience.

S01E03 • "Hillsdaleoween" (2020)

After summoning a zombie apocalypse on Halloween, the gang has to take ghastly measures to save the city of Hillsdale... or else they may be put in the grave forever.

A fully animated episode of BROBOT completed in 2020, when the series was still conceived in an 8-minute format and before I shifted toward storyboards and animatics as a faster way to develop and iterate on new episodes. My work has evolved considerably since then, but this episode remains a good example of the visual world I envisioned for the series.

I’m still particularly fond of the color palette and the backgrounds. I plan to eventually revisit and expand the episode into the current 22-minute format, but I’ve kept the original version here as a snapshot of the project — and my own work — at that point in its development.
